Too Soon For Love

Too Soon for Love - Kimberly Gardner I was surprised that I ended up liking this book as much as I did, since some of my pet peeves kept popping up throughout. Mainly an awful lot of happy coincidences--the fact that Alan was friends with the guide-dog breeder from whom Michael purchased his dog, that Alan happened to work for the lying a**hole cheater from Phillip's family who treated Michael the worst, that he happened to find a new job with the vet who just happened to care for Michael's guide dog and accidentally dated Alan's twin brother who also happens to have a sight impairment--I found it layered on a bit too thick Also, there were some points of conflict brought in that later just sizzled out as if they hadn't mattered in the first place (why bring them in at all, then?), and it bothered me a little that the attraction Alan felt for Michael seemed mostly based on Michael's good looks and not much more. Then again, this book was skillfully written and kept me on the edge of my seat with tension for a good part of it. Do your know this feeling you get while watching thrillers or horror movies when the oblivious, innocent heroine blindly (pun intended) walks into her doom and you want to shout at her, don't look into this closet, don't open that door but of course she does just that? That's exactly how I felt about Michael for a while, though thankfully he got his act together in good time. I liked the fact that the explicit scenes didn't only feature the two main characters together, but either of them with other people too. These scenes forwarded the plot and lent depth to the characters of Michael and Alan respectively, their pasts, their mindsets and the way they dealt with the present. Their well-deserved happy end rounded the story nicely. Recommended for people who are open to see the main couple having onpage sex with others and don't mind slightly convenient solutions.
