An intriguing concept: Richard the Lionhearted, my favourite historical personality, and Blondel, his bard, as a pair of lovers. The perspective of this book shifted constantly, and although there was very much interesting history, it just got too much. The author wanted to wrap up too many ploats and subplots inside this one story; it just didn't work for me.
